Off the Beaten Path

A couple weekends ago I had the pleasure of watchin' these guys:
Thankfully they were too slow to run away like that other dog I watched a few weeks ago.

It was nice to stay in another area of the city (just about to the Maryland state line). I went for a run one evening and saw a runner in front of me dart off the sidewalk and into the woods. I was a little concerned until I got closer and spotted the trail she had taken off on. It wasn't marked or anything, but I went in for a look. I discovered the awesomeness of Sligo Creek Park. Shaded trails along creeks make me a happy runner.

Recovery meal:
No I am not feeding a 300 pound man, that is my normal portion size and then I go back for seconds. So?
The next morning I took a walk to the local farmer's market. More awesomeness (I have quite the extensive vocabulary today, eh?). Anyways they had the best peaches and corn you could ever sink your teeth into. Just check out all the goods I got:

I love summer time. So many tasty & fresh foods to eat.

What's your favorite farmer's market item? In Florida we have some pretty legit road-side stands with yummy strawberries. Up here in DC I love getting corn from local farmers.

We like to pick up peaches, nectarines and berries right now. Our home garden is full of peppers, tomatoes, and zucchini. Needless to say, we are eating very fresh these days!!

The last time I went to a farmers market they had some delish rainer cherries that didn't even make it home. But I would say that heirloom tomatoes are my fav.

I LOVE to buy peaches at farmer's markets. The ones from grocery stores just cannot compare!

I SO go for seconds.. and then sometimes THIRDS! If I didn't stuff my face so much I could actually look awesome with the amount of running I do!

Oooh I love the farmers market. My parents have a veggie garden and yesterday I made a tomato cucumber salad with the garden veggies and my fiance said he could taste the difference- so good.

Thank you for your comment on the engagement shoot. We haven't gotten the pictures back yet. I will post as soon as I get them! I am soo excited to see them :)

I just bought a BUTT TON of fruit and vegetables to juice this week. I really like juicing, but I also really like chewing. We'll see how it goes.

I don't know what you're talking about, if anything that meal looks small to me. At least by my big girl eater standards. I LOVE cantaloupe from the farmers market, and basil. Actually I love everything about them. I love your random off roading - I would have been too scared to try a new trail without getting lost!

Peaches and corn are the best from the farmer's market. Yum!

It would have to be corn and homemade bread from a local Mennonite farm. We'll eat it for a meal- slice a nice big hunk of bread, spread on the butter, then roll the cob on the bread/ butter to butter the corn and melt the butter into the bread...I'm drooling right now. Guess I'll be stopping there a little later today- bread, corn, blueberries and some other fruit (their cherries are great, too!).

I like getting zucchini, corn and peaches from farmers markets. My parents have a garden, so I get everything else (tomatoes, green beans, potatoes, etc.) from them.

That recovery meal looks delish!!! I love strawberries from the farmers market! Fresh strawberries are just so much better than those from the super market!
